1. Grinding wheel linear velocity
An increase in the linear speed of the grinding wheel will result in a decrease in the maximum cutting depth of the abrasive particles, a decrease in the cross-sectional area of the chips, and an increase in the number of cutting cycles and grinding heat, leading to an increase in blockage. Reasonable selection of grinding wheel speed is necessary during grinding processing.
2. Workpiece speed
Practice has proven that doubling the working speed increases the amount of wheel blockage by three times. Because the higher the workpiece speed, the greater the abrasive load, and the shallower the abrasive particle penetration depth, the smaller the chip cross-sectional area. As the grinding thickness increases, the abrasive particle passivation becomes more severe, increasing the pressure of the grinding wheel on the workpiece grinding layer, which is equivalent to the hardening of the grinding wheel characteristics, thus exacerbating the clogging of the grinding wheel.
3. Grinding method
In terms of grinding methods, increasing the contact area between the grinding wheel and the workpiece will exacerbate the blockage of the grinding wheel. Due to the large contact area between the grinding wheel and the workpiece, and the difficulty for the coolant to enter the grinding area, there is a lot of grinding heat and high temperature, which creates conditions for blockage and easily leads to chemical adhesion blockage and embedded blockage. End grinding is more prone to clogging than circumferential grinding, and transverse cutting grinding is more severely clogged than longitudinal grinding.
