Diamond grinding wheels need to be installed before they are put into use. Proper installation is the foundation for ensuring the normal, long-lasting, and good operation of the grinding wheel. If the grinding wheel is installed incorrectly, it will not only affect the normal operation and efficiency of the grinding wheel, but also shorten its service life and be damaged on the spot. This is such a tragic thing. The newly purchased grinding wheel is damaged before it is used. Therefore, when installing the grinding wheel, it is necessary to pay attention. The following mainly introduces the five steps for correctly installing the grinding wheel:
(1) Check whether the characteristics of the grinding wheel meet the usage requirements and whether the size of the grinding wheel matches the spindle.
(2) Assemble the grinding wheel freely onto the grinding wheel spindle without applying excessive pressure. The clearance between the inner diameter of the grinding wheel and the spindle and chuck should be appropriate to avoid being too large or too small. The mating surface is clean and free of debris.
(3) The chuck of the grinding wheel should be symmetrical on both sides, and the radial width of the clamping surface should be equal. The clamping surface is straight, fully in contact with the side of the grinding wheel, firmly clamped, and prevents deformation or even breakage of the two sides of the grinding wheel due to unbalanced forces.
(4) A flexible material pad of a certain thickness (such as asbestos rubber sheet, elastic thick cardboard or leather) should be sandwiched between the chuck and the grinding wheel end face to evenly distribute the clamping force of the chuck.
(5) The tightness of the tightening wheel should be sufficient to drive the wheel without sliding, and should not be too tight. When multiple bolts are used to tighten the large chuck, they should be gradually and evenly tightened in pairs diagonally. It is forbidden to tighten the bolts in sequence along the circumference or tighten one bolt at a time. Tightening the grinding wheel chuck can only be done with a standard wrench, and it is forbidden to use an extension wrench or tap to increase the tightening force.
