1. Before using a new dresser, you should exit from the last dressing feed. Many brittle diamond dressing tools are easily damaged during initial contact with the grinding wheel.
2. Install the diamond dressing tool head at an angle of 10-15° so that it points in the direction of rotation of the grinding wheel.
3. Install the dresser or clamp the dressing tool securely, and do not let the tool head hang too long.
4. When possible, use coolant as much as possible. During the entire dressing time, use coolant to pour the contact area between the dressing tool and the grinding wheel.
5. At the beginning of dressing, start from the highest point of the grinding wheel, usually the middle of the grinding wheel.
6. Pay attention to slight trimming. Maximum depth of trimming, for rough trimming: 0.001-0.002 inches. For finishing: 0.0005-0.001 inches.
7. Select the lateral movement speed of the tunnel according to the relevant manual. The slower the lateral movement speed (within the allowable range), the lower the surface roughness of the grinding wheel obtained.
8. The grinding wheel must be dressed within the specified time interval to prevent the grinding wheel from becoming dull and increasing the grinding force.
9. Within the specified time interval, rotate the dressing tool in the tool holder 1/8 turn to ensure that the dressing tool is always locked.
10. When the diamond dresser or tool head becomes dull or obviously flattened, it should be adjusted and replaced in time.
11. According to the diameter of the grinding wheel, reasonably select the CARAT amount (pure diamond content) of the diamond. The larger the diameter of the grinding wheel, the greater the CARAT value of the selected diamond.
9 issues you need to pay attention to during use
1. When placing the diamond dressing tool head into the chuck, be careful not to hit the grinding wheel surface.
2. The single-point diamond dressing tool head cannot be aligned vertically with the center of the grinding wheel. It generally needs to be tilted 10-15°.
3. Do not "quench" (refer to suddenly becoming cold) hot dressing tools. When dry dressing, the time between dressings must be sufficient to allow the hot dressing tools to cool down.
4. It cannot be assumed that the grinding wheel surface is ideally flat. When starting dressing, find the highest point of the grinding wheel and carry out dressing.
5. If possible, the amount of grinding wheel removal per time should not exceed 0.001 inches on the grinding wheel radius. Excessive trim removal can cause premature wear and frequent breakage of the diamond dressing tool head.
6. But you can’t repair too small a margin every time. Grinding wheels used on old or poorly rigid machine tools do not need to be dressed.
7. Be careful not to stay in one position for too long during trimming. This will polish the grinding wheel surface, generate high temperatures and damage the diamond dressing tool. Turn the dressing tool at least once a day.
8. Do not continue to use worn or damaged dressing tools. It should be adjusted or replaced promptly.
9. Do not select an excessively large amount of trimming and a too fast lateral feed speed during rough trimming, and then select a small amount of trimming and a slow lateral feed rate during fine trimming. This will quickly damage the diamond dressing tool. If possible, it is recommended to select the same transverse feed speed during rough trimming and fine trimming.
